With the advent of AI and its rapid spread, I am made aware of the diminished "arts" of teaching and preaching as those can often be done much better through AI applications. We have become a "ted talk" society. The tools we have depended on to propagate the gospel are fast becoming obsolete. We are brought face to face with our lack of dependence on the Holy Spirit and our reliance on the humanistic sciences of this world to draw people to God. This has resulted in a powerless gospel. Powerless to change lives and powerless to effect change in people. The Holy Spirit working through the magnification of the cross of Christ has been left out of most churches as well as the homes of many believers. We focus more on programs that get results that we can see, although temporary, that disappear when lifes pressures come our way.
What are we coming to? We are getting to the point that we don't even have to think for ourselves. Skills in various things, as well as creativity, are disappearing from our human intelligence created world. Logic and reason, which have ruled the day for many years, is advancing in the form of AI that is rapidly beginning to dominate our world. The tragedy is that it works. So well, in fact, that we are continuing to let it happen. The flash of the divine is disappearing from our world. The spark of creation, which has made man different from all other creatures, is fading fast. We are so dependent on logic and reason that the supernatural and the divine is excluded from our lives. The goals of ease and leisure have lulled us into a state of stagnation and decline. The refining of the human heart through trial and struggle are ignored in a rapid search for a cure instead of a Savior. As our life spans get longer, our spiritual insight is getting shorter. We avoid the unknown for the prolonging of our separation from the divine. We bow down to the god of advancement over the God of creation. All the while our wicked hearts are getting further and further from the truth. We embrace the absurd in the name of enlightenment, when true light is suppressed in our humanistic view of the world. Man has become our God. His advancement has become our growth. Knowledge has become our method and if we are not careful will be the vehicle of our extinction.
I am reminded of the scenerio in which the "terminator" was conceived. The basis of this sci-fi story is that a company, "Sky-Net" begins to rapid advance technology with the goal of making life better for mankind. However, at some point as technology advanced, skynet began to have its own independent agenda from man. It started advancing technology to destroy man so it could insure its own survival. I fear this is what the enemy of our souls is now doing with technology and Artificial Intelligence. His quest to remove the Divine, God with Us, in the world, is happening with ever increasing and subtle speed.
